Flight Of The Conchords

Flight Of The Conchords

Mike, Julie, Nancy, and I all went to the Flight Of The Conchords show at the Fox in Atlanta, GA Saturday night. It was probably the best thing that has ever happened to me. I still remember about 3 or 4 years ago watching videos of them on YouTube for hours with Kyle and Jeremy at the Apartment. I never thought I would get to experience that show live, in person. Mostly, because well… they’re from New Zealand!

Kristen Schaal (Mel from the show) opened up the night and she was fantastic. We all kind of thought she wasn’t going to be that funny, but she proved us wrong. She used a lot of prop comedy and told some hilarious stories, definitely check her out on YouTube if you’re bored!

After Mel, I mean.. Kristen finished her set New Zealand’s 4th Most Popular Folk-Comedy Duo took the stage! They played for about 90 minutes or so and had 2 Encores. I still think my favorites song of the night was Mutha’uckers. Bret played the drums while Jemaine played guitar and their friend Nigel (sp?) played cello.

The entire show was amazing and if they ever come back I’m going to try my best to go see them again and I encourage everyone to do the same. They were unbelievable, my mind is still blown.

What Happened To Music?!

I’ve been looking for something new to listen to for at least 6 months, if not longer. If anyone has some recommendations please let me know because this is starting to get ridiculous.

It’s sad when the only NEW music you listen to is when Minus The Bear puts out a new CD. I don’t really want my ears to only listen to one thing, but when everything released now-a-days is pure crap, what else can you do?!

I need HELP.

For the past week I’ve been pulling out all my old punk rock CD’s from back in the day. I’ve been listening to the following bands and they’re great.

  • Strung Out (Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues)
  • Pennywise (About Time)
  • NoFX (Anything Recorded Prior To 2000)
  • Lagwagon (Double Platinum)
  • Millencolin (Anything)
  • Bad Religion (Stranger Than Fiction)
  • Diesel Boy (Anything)
  • Whippersnapper (America’s Favorite Past Time)

I even listened to the Bouncing Souls a bit, that’s how serious this is.

Bodies - The Exhibition

Bodies - The Exhibition

I got Nancy tickets to Bodies – The Exhibition for Christmas and we finally got to go on January 17th. I’ll admit, at first I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was hoping that I wouldn’t get grossed out or sick, but I didn’t everything was extremely well done.

For those that don’t know what this is, the Bodies Exhibit is basically a bunch of real dead bodies that have been scientifically restored and preserved so that you can see how your body reacts in different situations. It’s absolutely unbelievable. I had a blast looking at all of the bodies, nerves, brains, lungs, etc..

When you first walk into the exhibit you basically see a full body standing there, with a bunch of glass cases of body parts around it. Once you move on you notice that they have broken down the exhibit by sections of the human body. You have your digestive system section, respiratory section, reproductive section, and tons more. They even have a break down of the central nervous system and an entire room of the stages of a fetus. That’s right, I said fetus but don’t worry they have taken extra measures to give you the option to dodge this room completely if you choose so.

Overall the exhibit took about 40 minutes to walk through and it wasn’t as crowded as I thought it was going to be. If you even have the slightest interest in seeing this, please do so, you will not regret it.

Happy New Year!

What?.. I’ve been busy!

Christmas 2008

Christmas

This Christmas was incredible and it all started on Christmas Eve. Nancy and I went to a birthday party at The Italian Oven for her friend Megan. After that we headed over to my Sister’s house for my family’s annual Christmas Eve party. This is where all my Nieces and Nephews open their gifts from the family. They also run around screaming and causing all sorts of chaos. It’s exciting!

Christmas morning Nancy and I opened our stockings and then went over to her Dad’s house for breakfast. We exchanged a bit of gifts there and then I destroyed a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. Oh man, it was delicious! From there we headed to her Grandparents house in Newnan, roughly 60 minutes away. Nancy’s Mom was there along with the rest of her side of the family. We stayed there for a good two hours and then finally came home to open our own presents!

My parents (Mom & Stepdad) came over around 5pm to exchange their gifts with us and to watch us open our gifts for each other. Apparently we took way too long because my Stepdad is still making fun of me for it! Anyway, I’m extremely grateful for all the gifts I received this year and all the wonderful friends and family I have. I hope everyone out there had the best Christmas ever!

Shameless Self-Christmas'ing

I’ve always been a firm believer in buying yourself something nice for Holidays. Actually, I take that back, I’m a firm believer in buying yourself something nice. I think we all work too hard and if you have the money to treat yourself to something every once in awhile then you should go for it!

Last night after I got home from an amazing adventure at the Georgia Aquarium I flopped down on my couch and started browsing the inter-webs for some TV deals. I stumbled upon the forum of slickdeals and saw the following deal at Best Buy…

Buy either a 37” Samsung LCD 720p HDTV or a 42” Samsung Plasma 720p HDTV with a 60GB XBOX 360 bundle and save 300-400 dollars off!

Basically get any of those TVs above and a 60GB XBOX for only $899.99. I’ve been looking for a new TV for roughly 2-3 weeks now and this is a deal I couldn’t pass up.

I headed down to Best Buy in my area and searched for the items listed above. I decided to go with the LCD after viewing the TVs side-by-side and getting several opinions from Nancy and Best Buy employees. I ended up getting the very last 37” Samsung HDTV and the very last XBOX360 bundle. I’m not so sure how that worked out but I was pretty excited about it. I also tried to get the Tilt Wall-Mount for the TV and they only had the 169.99 version, the 149.99 was sold out. I was a little bummed about this but the Best Buy employee said don’t worry about it and gave me the 169.99 wall-mount for 149.99!

Here’s what I got:

37” Samsung LCD 720p HDTV

XBOX 360 60GB Pro Bunde

Here’s what these look like setup in my room…

More Like LOL Times?

The LA Times has a story up called “Black dog bias?” It’s about how many people seem to choose a lighter colored dog over a darker colored dog to be their pet. Anyway I wanted to post this due to the amazing quote below..

“It definitely exists,” said Madeline Bernstein, president of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles. She cited many causes, not the least of which is a misperception that black dogs are mean. “It’s that old thing of light is good and dark is evil. The light-versus-dark thing is so ingrained in our consciousness in books and movies. It transfers subliminally in picking out a dog.”

I had no idea that people are ingrained with racism. Good Job LA TIMES! Good Job!

What Do YOU Want For Christmas?

Every year I think it gets harder and harder to create a Christmas List. I’m not sure if it’s because I make a decent amount of money so I can get/buy anything I want at any given time (which I’m definitely thankful for this Thanksgiving) or maybe it’s because I don’t have an interest in as much stuff as I used to.

I’m not sure which one it is, but when I get asked to make a Christmas List it’s definitely no small task on my part. I mean, should I get a ton of Medium T-Shirts or Sweaters? Then I think, hrmm… that’s boring. Maybe I should get Psych Seasons 1-3 on DVD? Nah.. I have Instant Net-Flix which allows me to watch TV seasons instantly.

Damn you technology for making my decisions even more difficult!

I guess I need to browse around Amazon a few more times before I make my final decisions.

The Irony Of Being Nice.

Today at lunch time I decided to get some Chick Fil A. The Chick Fil A closest to my house happens to be inside of a Kroger grocery store. After I parked and got out of my car I saw an old lady about 75-ish placing groceries in the trunk of her car. About the time I started walking by her I noticed she was finished with her groceries so I kindly said, “I’ll take the cart back to the store for you.” and she responded with “Oh okay, that’s real nice of you!”

After I walked about 10 feet I turned around and noticed she was following me. I looked at her kind of funny and she responded with “They accidentally forgot to give me all my bags so I have to go get them!” I laughed and continued pushing her cart into Kroger, but when i think about it… she was already done putting away her groceries when she let me take her cart. She had to know about the missing bags yet she still let me take her cart in for her anyway!

Old people crack me up man!

New Hockey Gear!

Hockey

Last Tuesday after I slammed my stick down in a fit of rage (due to a number of things) it snapped in 2 pieces. It wasn’t a bad thing though. My old stick was an Easton Intermediate stick, a 65 flex. It was definitely a little too small/weak for my needs in the first place, but it was the only thing Play It Again Sports had at the time.

Saturday morning I dropped Nancy off at her house and got an oil change while she was getting ready. It was great because I also got my car washed inside and out. After that was done and I picked her back up and we went on a little road trip to Hockey Time USA in Roswell, GA. I’m so glad her phone had a GSP on it because apparently Hockey Time USA was in a completely different location then I last remembered!

Once at Hockey Time USA I picked up a new Warrior Dolomite stick and some minor necessities since everything else in this place was extremely expensive. I also tried to get a stick extension to add to my new stick (since I’m a bit on the tall side I need an extra 2 or 3 inches added to my hockey stick) but they were sold out. This spawned a trip to Play It Again Sports in Fayetteville.

After driving through rain, 100 red lights, and tons of traffic we made it to Play It Again Sports. I was so surprised by their selection, they used to have about 10 feet worth of hockey gear and most of it was youth. Now it’s a lot bigger than that and a lot of it is Senior equipment! I got the owner to add a stick extension to my stick and I picked up a few more things while I was there. I got some Easton Gloves, pucks, tape and then headed back home.

Once Nancy and I got back to McDonough it was around 6PM and we decided to eat. We tried Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Long Horn, O’Charley’s, and every other decent restaurant on Jonesboro Road but they were all PACKED. We went back to my house for an hour or so then headed back and things were a lot better.

I couldn’t wait to get home and relax after we ate, it was such a busy day. At the end of the day I drove around 150 Miles, spent well over $400 bucks, and had a blast. It was definitely one of the best Saturday’s I’ve had in a long time.

Black Clouds Are Everywhere

I hope my luck starts to change soon. Last week I was extremely sick, I woke up Wednesday morning with a horrible sore throat, stuffy nose, congestion, the works. When I woke up on Thursday morning I was about 50% worse so I decided to make a Doctors appointment. Turns out I had an acute case of Tonsillitis. The Doctor prescribed me some horse pills, cough syrup, gave me a shot, and sent me on my way.

Later that night I started feeling sick to my stomach. It felt like someone was trying to pump my stomach full of air even though it was already fully inflated. I woke up around 6AM on Friday morning with the same feeling, only worse. I ran to the bathroom and got so sick that I even considered going to the Hospital. I asked Nancy to call the Doctors office and see what’s going on. Turns out I must of had an allergic reaction to the medicine. After drinking lots of water and rinsing out my system I finally started to feel better.

I’m finally a 100% now, but my luck still hasn’t changed much. Last night we had our typical Tuesday night Hockey game. The game was going great until it seemed everyone I touched started getting hurt.

Daniel and Dustin were racing down the rink and I was chasing after them. Dustin and I got tangled up a bit right when I poke checked Daniel to get the puck away from him. Dustin fell, I started to fall, then I believe my stick hit Daniel’s skates and he took a face plant right into the ground (or my stick, we’re still not sure). Turns out Daniel chipped his tooth and was in a great deal of panic/pain. I still feel horrible about the incident and hope he gets a pearly white filling.

About an hour after The Great Daniel Debacle of 2008, Dustin and I were battling hard for the puck. We were pushing and shoving each other almost as hard as we can and some how the end of my stick accidentally hits Dustin in the face. It was so accidental that I had no clue my stick even hit him in the face, but it did.

Both guys are okay now and hopefully they’ll be back out there next Tuesday, but I wont blame them if they both decide to wear full cages on their helmets or at least mouth guards.

A Lull In Traffic

This morning when I left for work I got stuck in a little bit of traffic and it made me think. Everyone usually gets upset when they see that infinite line of brake lights but what may be a small inconvenience to you, could be changing someone’s life forever.

Traffic usually slows your life down about 10 to 20 minutes locally and maybe a bit more on the highway, but imagine if you lost your life (or someone you knew lost theirs) in a car wreck that caused all this traffic. Which would you prefer… I’ll take the traffic and send out a nice prayer for the reasoning behind it because it could be something as small as a horrible traffic cop or something as large as, well.. the end for some unfortunate person(s).

Be safe out there.

Halloween Party 2008

Halloween Party 2008

This weekend was Jeremy’s girlfriend’s (Diana Knox) birthday party / Halloween party. I went as Jemaine Clement from Flight Of The Conchords.

Here’s a quick list of what everyone else went as.

  • Mike Faria went as a Dharma Employee.
  • Nancy Bryant went as a Beer maid.
  • Mark & Selena Uhl went as Hogwartz students.
  • Jeremy Adams went as Andy Roy.
  • Diana Knox went as Marie Antoinette.
  • Andy and Megan Roy went as 80’s prom go-ers.
  • Brandon Smith went as a chick.
  • Jenna Smith went as a girl with a giant watermelon belly.
  • Kyle Brown went as a dude with batman coming out of his shoulder.. I know.. I know..

There’s tons more but I got bored listing all that out. If you want to look at some pictures and a video check out Mike’s Flickr page, he wants more views anyway!

Oh Look, An Update!

I am extremely excited about Halloween this year. For one, it’s the first Halloween in the house and I’m looking forward to giving out candy to all the kiddies. Also, we’re having a party on the 25th, which reminds me, I still have to get my dog a Halloween costume. Pet Smart was kind of sold out of costumes this weekend, maybe Walmart or Target will be better options.

Hockey season is back in full swing now. My friends and l usually play every Tuesday night around 8PM at Avalon Park, so I’m really excited about playing tonight. Not to sound gay but I’m really proud of myself with how I’m changing overall as a player. For example, I used to be really selfish and get upset about plays that didn’t go my way. I wouldn’t pass that often and get upset when someone didn’t pass to me. I guess I still do every so often, but I’ve been trying to step into more of a play-maker role. I’ll slow the game down and wait for Mark or Jeremy to get open, pass, then try to set up a play rather than go coast-to-coast every time. It really makes the game 10x more fun for everyone, including myself.

Mesa Boogie finally sent me the new tubes I needed to fix my amp. It feels great to finally be able to play again. That Lonestar sounds so good it’s ridiculous. Just talking about it makes me want to start writing new music again. It feels like it’s been forever.

Final words.. If you’ve never been to a Chiropractor, go. You wont regret it, I promise.

New Record.

I haven’t had a hair cut in over a month.

Past Few Months

I haven’t updated in a while because I have the tendency to fall in and out of writing. I like it one week, hate it the next, it happens. Anyway, a lot has happened since I last updated (The 100 Push-Up Entry).

Here’s a list…

  • I turned 27 on September 10th, 2008.
  • I can not stop watching the TV show Psych, best show ever.
  • I bought a new guitar amp; Mesa Lonestar.
  • I got a bad tube and footswitch cable with the amp above and I’m currently waiting on Mesa to send me new ones.
  • I built my pedalboard I should have a finished picture up soon.
  • I can not stop purchasing effect pedals!
  • I went to NYC for a week with my friend Mike. It was a blast.
  • I can’t stop playing EA Sports NHL09.
  • My dog is gigantic and keeps eating my stuff.

That’s really all I can think of right now, I’m pretty sure I’ve forgotten a few things though. If I remember them I’ll try to update this again, but who knows if that will really happen.

10/10/2008

I’m ready.

One Hundred Push-Ups!

Hundred Push-ups

I was talking with my friend Mike and he mentioned this website hundredpushups.com. He has already started week 2 so I decided to give it a try, as well as, run around my neighborhood a few days out of the week.

It’s safe to say I’m trying to lose the gut.

I did my initial test two nights ago and ended up completing 25 consecutive push-ups. I was pretty proud of that number, I didn’t think I could do that many. I’ll be honest though, on the last 5 push-ups I was shaking so much.

The next day (yesterday) I was incredibly sore. Even though I was sore, after work I ran two laps around my neighborhood with my dog. Once I got back home, drank some water and took a few minutes to rest up I started my push-ups for day 1. I had to complete 10 push-ups, wait a minute, 10 push-ups, wait a minute, 8 push-ups, wait a minute, 6 push-ups, wait a minute, then after all that I had to complete as many push-ups as I possibly could.

I almost died. The last 6 were pretty gruesome but the next 10 I completed after that for my max were excruciating, but I did it!

I’ll give my body a day or two off and start day 2 sometime this weekend. I’ll try to keep you guys posted on my progress. You should do it as well and let me know!

Quick Update

If you haven’t noticed I have OCD really bad and changed up the website about 8 times in 3 days. It looks like I’m happy (for now).

I have updated the following items; top image, navigational menu, left column background, and I have taken new pictures of all items under portfolio. Take a look around and let me know if you find some errors!

Twitter What?

Does anyone out there actually use Twitter? I mean, I barely even get a thank you for grocery shopping at kroger as it is.

Okay, so for those of you who do not know what Twitter is, it’s a website that lets you post what you’re doing. Once your “status update” is posted it’s sent to everyone else who has Twitter and even emailed and text messaged to people’s phones.

Answer this for me…
WHY NOT CALL THEM OR TEXT MESSAGE THEM ANYWAY?!

Who cares if you’re “Eating dinner!”, “Thinking about throwing away that old baggy t-shirt from that team building exercise.”, or “Typing hello to a random person on AOL!” I don’t care about those things. It’s like putting an away message on your life.

DEAR EVERYONE,

STOP EMBARRASSING ME.

THANKS,
ME.

PS- I updated the site a little bit today, look up!

Business Is Blooming.

My apologies go out to my friend Mike for not posting enough lately, even though I know he was only mocking me. Mike didn’t update his blog for about a month and I had to make fun of him for it. I guess I’m a bigger dork than I thought.

Well, the reason for not updating has been mostly due to all the freelance work I’ve been getting. Something has to be in the air, other than pollen. I’ve talked to a few other people and they have also said they’re getting tons of extra business lately. It’s definitely a good thing though, I need the extra cash and I like to stay busy so it’s a win-win.

I’m currently designing a website for Endure Equity Advisors, LLC so be on the look out for that. I recently designed their company logo, which can be viewed here. I also designed their business card, but this hasn’t made it to my portfolio yet. I’m also working on a website design for Reinventing Profits, LLC.

Other than those designs, I have also created about 2 or 3 mock-designs (as I like to call them) of random websites and other things. This lets me have some designs on file that I can pull out if someone wants a website in the future. It saves me time and work, since I’ve already made it.

Oh and be on the lookout for some more illustrations. I took that section of the site down since my friend Jonathan Brooks did all the old illustrations here. Since this site is just me now though, I thought they wouldn’t fit so I took them down. It’s a little ironic though, I take that section down and then I start getting into illustrations and what not myself. That’s mostly due to all the inspiration I get from my friend Chris Sandlin, you can check out all of his work on this website SOCKMONKEE.

SITE UPDATE: I finally updated the FLICKR image plug-in on the about page. It pulls the most recently added images from my flickr account and puts them on my website, so be sure to check that out often. I’ll probably be taking more pictures now that I have a phone that works.

Okay Mike, was this one long enough for ya? LOL.

I'm Such A Good Follower.

iPhone

I was sitting around this weekend looking at my Razr phone and watching it tell me to “Insert SIM Card” over and over, I realized I needed a new phone. It got to the point where I’d close the flip phone and the pressure of closing it would make the phone say “Insert SIM Card.” It was driving me crazy. This phone was handed down to me from a friend and with our combined usage it probably lasted about 4 years. I hear from current and previous Razr owners that if my phone lasted this long I deserve a medal.

Anyway, yesterday I woke up and went to the At&t Wireless dealer in Mt. Zion. After walking around for 15 minutes I realized I was supposed to fill out a sign-in sheet. Then about 20 minutes later they called my name. After the wait I got my phone, paid for it, and was out of there in 5 minutes. It only took about 30 minutes to get to that point.

After waiting for the phone to charge up for 2 hours or so… I activated it and began setting up all of my contacts. I used Address Book on my Mac to sync all of my contacts thanks to a good tip from a friend of mine and I used Garageband / iTunes to make a ringtone. I still haven’t made or found a decent wallpaper yet for it. Anyone have any recommendations?

Let me know!

Merch Of The Conchords

Flight Of The Conchords

I noticed today that the “Eat. Sleep. Folk.” Flight Of The Conchords t-shirt was finally reprinted by HBO. I’ve been wanting this shirt since the beginning of last season but it sold out so fast. I didn’t wait this time, I ordered the above as soon as I got home from work.

I’m so pumped, I think I’m going to put the poster in my bathroom and I’ll probably wear the t-shirt every single day of my life. I guess I should have bought more than one shirt. Oops.

Check out the video below if you don’t know anything about these guys and then slap yourself in the face for living under a rock.

Flight Of The Conchords – Business Time

Capital One: NO HASSLE!

Capital One

I received a call from Capital One last week because my payment was 13 days late. For the record, this was actually my fault. I didn’t change my address when I moved and apparently the post office ate it. Anyway, I paid my bill, the embarrassing late fee, and thought I was done with it.

I received a similar call from Capital One a few days later stating that my payment was 15 days late. I first explained to the guy exactly what happened and he basically had no clue what to do. I swear it must have been his first day talking on a telephone. It was amazing, annoying, and hilarious all at the same time. He then begins to tell me that he needs me to fax him a copy of my bank statement. WHAT?! Who does that? That’s my personal banking information, casually labeled “My eyes only.” I told him no and for him to correct this issue because the payment has clearly exited my bank account.

After about 10 minutes of “Ummmms…”, “Ahhh…”, and “Humphs..” he came up with the idea that it was because it was Good Friday and the payment must have not cleared on his end. I asked to speak with a supervisor and/or manager and he assured me that they would only repeat what he has already told me. So I said, I’d feel a lot more comfortable with the situation if I heard it from them instead of you. He then put me on hold for 30 seconds only to come back to say they were “busy”. I then instructed him to call me back on Monday.

Hello Monday! I received a call from Capital One around 3pm or so and this time it was a woman. All-in-all I explained to her exactly what happened and what I’ve been through. She then asks me to tell her the account number that’s showing up in my bank statement. I do and then we figured out the payment went to a “…56….” instead of a “…65…” and boom, problem solved. The lady also removed my late fee and told me sorry about 100 times.

I love the fact that every problem we have with companies are completely based on the person you are talking to on the phone. This woman got me taken care of in about one minute and removed the fee like it was nothing.

It’s safe to say I will paying this off as soon as I can (to account “…65…”) and then canceling the account forever.

I Need This...

Sleeeep!

I am exhausted. I know I say that too much, but what can you do?

Last night I went over to my friend Matt’s house, his band “Red Sea Division” had just recently lost their guitarist and they were looking for another one. I asked them about a week or two earlier if they needed another guitarist and the response at that time was no, but I guess this worked out in my favor. Three guitar players would have been way too many anyway.

I grabbed my acoustic and got over there around 7pm. Jason Perez started showing me some of the songs and it all went real smooth. For the record the band isn’t an acoustic project, it was just easier to lug an acoustic over instead of all my other equipment. We played for about 4 hours straight, after that I was showing them some of the songs I had wrote/recorded and they enjoyed them quite a bit.

I’m pretty excited about this though, we’re practicing with full equipment on Sunday so I’ll probably post another update so I can rub it in your face of how happy I am.

In the meantime, I really need some sleep. We’re supposed to play hockey tonight at 9pm and I got home last night at 2am. I can barely keep my eyes open, wish me luck!

FLIGHT Of The Living Dead

FLIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD

I’m currently watching this movie as I write this and I have to say this movie is hilariously great.

The movie basically starts out with all the passengers already on the plane in mid-flight. It’s your typical back story though, some scientist basically creates a string of a virus that eventually mutates into a zombie virus thing. Anyway they’re transporting a passenger in the cargo deck with this virus inside a contamination unit. The plane flies directly into a huge storm which causes a lot of turbulence and because of the turbulence the unit accidentally breaks open.

INSERT ZOMBIE OUTBREAK HERE

The movie explodes with crazy gore and hot zombie action from here on out. My favorite character in the movie was Frank, a convict on his way to a trial in Paris. He’s actually attached to a police officer named Bennett. Frank is extremely sarcastic, witty, and sooo freaking funny (to me at least).

This movie actually doesn’t need too much explanation, it’s just a ton of zombies on a plan. There’s a cop, a TSA agent, and a professional golfer that take out the most zombies. The government has ordered the air force to take out the plane to stop the spread of this virus and the plane must try to contact them to let them know they’re still alive. Will they contact them in time or will they be blow out of the sky? I guess you’ll have to watch the movie for that!!

Overall though, I expected this movie to be extremely low-budget but it was anything but. Even the acting was pretty good and the story wasn’t boring. I also never seen a zombie get killed with an umbrella through the head before! If you’re in a goofy mood and you love zombie movies, go rent/buy/download/borrow/find/search/etc… this movie!

Tales From The Darkside

I absolutely love this show. I woke up late for work today because my alarm clock mysteriously didn’t work. I guess it’s about time to invest in a new one. Anyway, while I was working the TV spent the day on the Sci-Fi channel and about 8 episodes came on this afternoon.

Here are my favorites:

Trick Or Treat (Pilot)

First Aired: 10/29/1983

A miser taunts his neighbors by daring them to send their children in to find their debt records inside of his “haunted house,” but he gets some unusual late-night visitors.

A Case of the Stubborns
Season: 01, Episode: 10
Writer(s): James Houghton
First Aired: 12/02/1984

In a backwoods community, a family is plagued by their grandpa… who refuses to acknowledge that he’s dead.

Bigalow’s Last Smoke
Season: 01, Episode: 22
Writer(s): Michael McDowell
First Aired: 06/09/1985

Mr. Bigalow, a lifelong cigarette smoker, wakes up to find that his windows have bars on them and his door is sealed shut. A mysterious figure appears on Bigalow’s television, informing him that he will quit smoking. Bigalow scoffs at this notion and reaches for a morning cigarette. As soon as he lights up, a deafening alarm sounds, demanding that he extinguish the cigarette immediately. Bigalow is subjected to various endurance tests and is further tempted to smoke when thousands of cigarettes materialize in the room, only to disappear. After being driven to the edge of sanity, he wakes up to find that he no longer has a desire to smoke. Believing that the whole ordeal was a dream, Biaglow reaches for a cup of coffee, at which time the mysterious figure reappears on the television screen, insisting that Bigalow now work on his caffeine addiction.

I tried to find a few pictures but this show was made in the early 80’s so you can imagine what the quality looked like!

Wendy's Stole A Piece Of My Heart

I’m not sure if I’m the only one who doesn’t know about this or not, but Wendy’s took their onion rings off of the menu! I’m so upset by this, it’s ridiculous!

I WANT MY ONION RINGS!!!

I Hate Painting...

Yesterday I finally finished my bathroom. For those of you who don’t know, I started painting it lime green like my bedroom but then eventually thought that was way too green. So instead I stopped halfway through painting it and waited until I bought a different color of paint.

I went to Home Depot around 12pm and got some dark grey paint; after a few breaks, dinner, and feeding the dog, I finished around midnight. I’m pretty happy with the way the color turned out, it reminds me of how the bathroom should look inside of a music venue.

See below for yourself! Oh and click on the pictures to make them bigger

Bathroom 4Bathroom 3Bathroom 2Bathroom 1

I’m exhausted and I never want to see a paint brush again. If you have paint brushes, can you please burn them for me and then send me the pictures? That might actually make my day!

"Kind Of New" Designs?

I just spent about an hour or two digging through an old hard drive of mine and I found a bunch of designs that I created a few years ago. I picked out a few of the ones I liked and added them to the site!

Head on over to the portfolio page to view all the new material! I think I added 2 print designs and 6 web designs. Who knows though, I’m not that good at counting.

Anyway, check em out!

I Need Sleep!

Wow, I’ve been updating the site all day and I think I’m pretty happy with everything. I’m so exhausted though, I need a nap.

Here’s a few of the updates:

  1. Updated Textpattern from 4.0.3 to 4.0.6 (I know, where have I been!)
  2. Replaced the home page with my blog, figured it’s more useful.
  3. Added Simplepie to import my Last.fm RSS/XML feed.
  4. Added a new Biography on the About page.
  5. Changed the comment system!

Other than the complete re-design I think that’s all!

I can’t wait to get home tonight, get some rest, play some hockey at 7pm, and hopefully make it home in time to watch LOST before I go to sleep on the DVR. There’s nothing better than some quality TV, commercial free!

New Layout

Okay, so I basically spent all day redesigning this site. I figured v3 lasted long enough and I couldn’t look at it anymore.

To be completely honest, I don’t even want to update the site, especially after all that work! But, I figured what the heck, I shouldn’t stop now!

So take a look around and let me know in the comments below if you like it or if you find some bugs! Go bug hunting! Do it! I need it!

Oh and why does Chick-Fil-A dump so much salt on their french fries!? I mean, geeez it ruined the whole experience for me. Now I think I’m about to have a stroke. UGH.

I’m going to watch some X-Files, you kids have fun!

UPDATE: I know the comments look awful, I’ll fix it tomorrow. I’M LAZY!

The Kids Are NOT Alright.

This happened to me last Thursday, sorry I’ve just been way to lazy to post. It happens.

I was leaving my house Thursday morning around 8am. On the way to work I go through all my daily routines like; I open the garage door, I get in my car, I turn my car on, and then I slowly back down my driveway. Typical everyday stuff here.

Well today was different, once I got to the end of my driveway I looked left and right to make sure there were no cars coming. Since I did not see any cars I proceeded to back out. After I did this I hear the voice of a kid start screaming at me out of nowhere. I looked in my rear view mirror and sure enough, there he was, freaking out.

Apparently he was walking to the bus stop in the middle of the road and didn’t move out of the way when he.. 1. Heard my garage door open, 2. Saw my garage door open, 3. Heard my car start up, 4. See my car pull down the driveway, and 5. See my car come inches away from his body.

The best part was, he was cussing me out because he didn’t move out of the way. My neighborhood has sidewalks and they’re easily used, but I guess that must have been a little too difficult for him.

All in all it was a pretty eventful morning and the events gave me a little something to laugh about when I got to work.

Thrashers Deal.

Okay, so everyone knows yesterday was the NHL’s trade deadline and our GM Don Waddell had to trade Marian Hossa due to the fact that he was leaving this town anyway. If Hossa wasn’t traded yesterday then he would have left this organization with nothing in return, similar to how Marc Savard left a few years ago.

ATLANTA RECEIVED:
Colby Armstrong
Erik Christensen
Angelo Esposito
1ST Round Draft Pick

PENGUINS RECEIVED:
Marian Hossa
Pascal Dupuis

I am EXTREMELY happy with this trade. I’ve read about 1,000+ blogs in the past two days and it seems that a lot of people are with me and the other people seem absolutely retarded.

Colby Armstrong is probably one of my favorite NHL players because of his style of play. He’s fast, gritty, maybe even a little dirty, and he’s used to playing with Sid so I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t mind playing on a line with Kovy.

Erik Christensen is a shootout specialist as well as a decent centerman. We’ve needed help up the middle for a while now and this isn’t maybe the best answer, he’s better than the centers we have now so it’s an IMPROVEMENT.

Esposito is going to be a great player after a few more years of development so this is definitely a much needed building block for the future of this franchise. He was also Pittsburgh’s 1st Round Draft Pick last year.

On top of it all we get Pittsburgh’s 1st Round pick for this year, plus all the guys we’ve acquired are at least 6 ft tall, which helps us out in size.

I’m ready to run out and drop some change on a Colby Armstrong jersey. I’m seriously that excited about it. I guess we’ll all find out how it works out tomorrow night when the Thrashers take on the Islanders.

YUP.

Stress Is Not Free.

I’m confused and upset with the fact that every time something good happens to me financially, something bad happens to correct that. It’s like an evil balancing system that just seems to hate my guts.

I finally have enough money saved up to get out of debt. Then all of a sudden my teeth/jaw starts hurting. After a visit to the dentist the conclusion is, I need all my wisdom teeth (plus another tooth) removed. Okay great, this should cost roughly $500 bucks maybe? Nah, let’s try around $1,000.00. AWESOME.

I can’t win and it’s extremely discouraging.

I haven’t found one thing in life that costs as much as the dentist. I don’t understand it. It’s like you can go get a few teeth fixed or send your kids to college. What’s more important because the price is roughly the same.

UGH.

The Sound

Last night I hung out with Sondra, one of my good friends. After a few words and some Starbucks, she introduced me to some wonderful new music.

If anyone of you are reading this, please check her out.

Sara Bareilles

This is typically something I wouldn’t normally listen to, but for some reason, I can’t stop. I actually played guitar to her entire record last night and the way she (or whoever writes her music) structures these songs, is amazing. Not to mention that her voice is unbelievable.

So do me a favor and check it out, let me know what you think!

New music is always a great conversation starter.

Positive Reinforcement

I have been feeling awkward at best lately. I must say I’m a little sick of the routine. Same thing, different day. At times I wish I knew more people outside of my group of friends so I would have more entertaining things to do other than drink and play rock band on a Saturday night. I mean what more can you do around town other than..

a. Go to the movies
b. Drink
c. Just hang out pointlessly, or
d. All of the above.

I’m so serious though, it’s boring. All my friends are apparently content with the activity levels of their own lives, unless they’re holding this all inside as well. I want to do new things, different things, some thing that wont bore me to death.

I still haven’t been to a comedy club, I want to go, yet I haven’t been able to get any of my friends to go with me. I’m not pathetic enough (or confident enough, depending how you look at it) to go by myself. I never been to Dave & Busters (sounds gay I know), but I mean there are things to do, they just happen to be 20 to 50 miles up the street.

I’m just sick of not doing anything, that’s all.

New Pod

So I finally broke down and bought a new iPod. I got the 80GB Classic. It’s funny to think that just a year or so ago I bought the 30GB for 50 dollars more than this one. For 50 dollars less I got 50 more gigs.

Nice.

My Top 5 TV Shows Of 2007 (2007 Lists)

Sorry Mike, but I’m ripping you off along with the 10 million other blogs that you ripped off for the list idea. lol. No hard feelings!

Okay, so I’m pretty bored and I was reading Mike’s blog and decided to do this. My dog kept me up for most of the night, so I have to do something to stay awake, so here it is…

My Top 5 TV Shows Of 2007

5. K Ville

K Ville is one of those shows that most people will make fun of me for placing on this list, but for some reason I really like it. I guess it’s my guilty pleasure of TV shows this year. Anthony Anderson and Cole Hauser just have great chemistry together and the show has a few comedic moments each episode.

4. Reaper

I’m not a big fan of Kevin Smith, but I am a big fan of Kevin Smith’s work. This show is hilarious and even though I think it will eventually get boring, it never does. I also think that Tyler Labine or his character, Bert ‘Sock’ Wysocki, is a huge Jack Black rip off yet he’s so funny it doesn’t matter. Not to mention, Missy Peregrym (Andi) is hotttttttttttt.

3. Supernatural

Supernatural has been one of my favorite TV shows since day one, but Season 2 wasn’t exactly top-notch. Season 3 didn’t disappoint at all and it’s still not over, hopefully. It’s a great mix of comedy, horror, and drama yet they don’t over do it. I’ll admit that it’s cheesy sometimes, but that’s what makes it good. Also the soundtrack is amazing, playing AC/DC, Boston, Journey, etc..

2. Chuck

Chuck was almost my #1 pick, but that’s because Season 1 of FOTC ended a couple months back and it wasn’t on my mind. Anyway, I absolutely love this show. I could re-watch every episode in a weekend marathon without moving. The comedy in the show is hilarious, the chicks are incredibly hot, the action scenes are not cheesy, and even the special effects are pretty good. Don’t get me started on Morgan, Chuck’s best friend. His character is probably one of my favorite pieces of the show.

1. Flight Of The Conchords

Flight Of The Conchord’s have won a place in my heart for life, let alone this list. This show features Jermaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, a New Zealand folk comedy band duo who moves to New York to make it in the music industry. The songs are incredible and if you’re a musician, try to figure one of them out. They’re actually quite difficult to play. Watch this show, please please please watch this show.

It's Christmas??

I just can’t believe that it is already Christmas. Technically Christmas is Tuesday, but it’s close enough. I guess with this house and all these changes in my life, I haven’t been able to enjoy it. It’s safe to say I’ve been extremely busy, but that’s how it goes.

It feels like October to me though. It’s weird.

I’m ready to put up the Christmas Tree, Link loves to go underneath it and pee. lol. He’s crazy like that. I have to drag him out of it and throw him outside, that’s never fun.

I’ve watched 2 movies over the weekend already; I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry and The Invasion. I will say this, The Invasion > Chuck & Larry. Both were good movies.

I’m exhausted, I think it’s bed time.

Meet Link!

A lady at my job knew someone who had free German Shepherd / Chow puppies and needed someone to take them. There were 5 left and so I went to Covington and picked one up!

I named him LINK, from Zelda (of course).

He’s going to get his shots and a bath today, I can’t wait to get home so I can see him, lol.

Man-tastic

I woke up this morning and looked over at my alarm clock. The time was 7:06am. I set my alarm the night before to 6:35, but I was an idiot and accidentally set it to PM instead of AM. Good thing I woke up on time.

When I got to work I started looking at my hands and realized that I should receive my MAN CERTIFICATE any day now. I have cuts, bruises, blisters, and scratches everywhere. I bought a power saw last night along with; a post hole digger, nails, 4×4’s, 2×4’s, dog ears, and a few sheets of pre-made privacy fencing. Jeff and I built half of my privacy fence and it only took us 3 hours.

Today I came home and finished up the gate, hung up all my CD artwork in the office, and now I’m going to eat some supreme pizza.

MMHMM.

Stranger Than Fiction

I’m not talking about Bad Religion here. I’m actually watching the movie with Will Farrell, Dustin Hoffman, and Maggie Gyllenhaal. I watched this movie a while ago when it was in the movie theater, but I didn’t really remember a lot about it until tonight.

So I’ve basically come to the conclusion that I love this movie. Will Farrell’s character Harold Crick kind of reminds me of myself. Not the alone, no friends part, but the OCD part. Maggie Gyllenhaal is also some-what attractive in this movie. I think it might be more of her character, but I’m not complaining.

The menu’s also have a way to show lines and numbers in relation to the narrations of the author. I know, I know, cheesy but I like it.

House Photographs!

So I finally got around to taking some pictures of the house, they’re listed below by room with a before and then a few after pictures.

MY LEGS!!!

It’s 2:40am and I’m laying on the couch watching The Wicker Man in HD. The guide says horror but I’m pretty sure it should be listed under comedy. I mean.. c’mon this is ridiculous. lol.

I painted my room green today. I can’t wait to head up to Ikea and buy some furniture for it. It’s going to look amazing, I just wish paintings didn’t cost so much.

Oh and my stepbrother gave me 2 tickets to the Thrashers game tonight, second row, almost on the ice. It was amazing, to bad the game wasn’t on TV or you would have seen me. The Thrashers won 4-3 in a shootout against the Islanders.

I guess I should try to sleep now.

Goodnight.

Emergency Emergency!

I don’t think I’ve ever been this sore in my entire life, yet I keep on going. To be honest, I didn’t know my body could handle this much work without completely falling apart.

Here’s a schedule of what’s been going on:

Friday:
8am to 1130am – Work
11:30am to 12pm – Bank (Cashier’s Check)
12pm to 2pm – Closing
4pm to 6pm – Buy 10 gallons of paint and supplies
8pm to 11pm – Move over 20 boxes over to the house.

Saturday:
9am to 11am – Packed up and organized everything.
11am to 12pm – Paid my last month of rent for the apartment.
12pm to 8pm – Moved 2 14ft box trucks and 2 pick up trucks full of our stuff to the house.
8pm to 11pm – Went to Kyle’s to hang out.
12am = Sleep.

Sunday:
10am to 1030pm – Painted the living room.
11pm = Food.

Monday:
845am to 915am – 3 guys showed up to fix the drywall in the garage and I did some minor paint touch-ups.
930am to 1230pm – DirecTV
1pm to 3pm – Shampooed the carpet and unpacked all the kitchen boxes.
4pm to 7pm – Moved and setup all the living room furniture
8pm to 9pm – Watched Chuck.
9pm to 1130pm – Played Hockey.

That’s basically what I’ve done until this point. Tomorrow is also going to be a big big big paint day. Try to get 2, if not all 3, of the bedrooms done.

Ohh and I also found a big fat white cat in a closet, alive. It’s the previous owners cat, I called our Realtor and hopefully that will get taken care of soon. lol.

Goodnight!

Not A Very Good Sign.

My schedule yesterday was pretty intense, I woke up and went to work at 8am, I got out of work a bit early at 3 so I could go home a pack a bit. I packed from 4 to 8 or so, taking breaks in between, then from 9 to 11:30pm I played hockey down the street with a bunch of friends.

It’s safe to say that playing hockey might have been a bad idea. I can’t move and by move I don’t mean sore, I mean… I hurt my back and I can’t stand up. This is awful, my back has never hurt this much and it so happens that it’s 2 days before the big move. Not cool.

I’m hoping if I work from home today, take a lot of rest, borrow my roommates heating pad, and take some medicine I’ll be ready to go in no time. I hope.

Hockey Tap

Maybe I'm not that lazy.

I’ve finally added the websites I completed to this site. I guess I just got a little free time, maybe I’m not THAT lazy after all. :)

If I can think of anything else new and exciting that I’ve created in the past 3 months, I’ll add that as well. I need some new work though, especially since this house will have an office. I’ll be semi-professional and no longer working from a small, darker corner of the living room. It was so bad I couldn’t even see the TV!

More Pictures! (BTW – The images might look a little distorted in IE, but just click on them to view them at full size.)

Adding Image Plug-Ins. Woo Hoo!

Okay, so I should be asleep, but I got excited over adding a new image plug-in I found at textpattern.org. Let’s see if it works!

Here’s a picure of my house, if everything goes smooth on Friday!

House

I’ll probably be updating this entry a lot, hopefully not too much though.

This stuff is difficult to do without a mouse, damn laptop! At least I’m in bed, cozy and whatnot.

1 Pixel Makes All The Difference.

I hate it when I accidentally select the Photoshop Icon instead of the Internet Explorer Icon in my Quick Launch Task Bar.

Why am I using IE you ask? Oh, well my job has a web-based application that runs in IE. Why not all browsers? Don’t look at me. I’m not a programmer.

A Fresh Start.

I can not stop thinking about Friday and this house closing. I’m so ready to get everything started. To be honest, in a way it’s like starting over. It has been extremely stressful but I’m so proud of myself for this accomplishment!

In other news, I’m so sick of Thanksgiving food. Geez, I think I’ve eaten Turkey, Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, and Rolls for the past 4 days straight, 3 meals a day. UGH. I’m done. I’m ready for something different, like pizza or some chicken!

I still can’t believe it’s almost Christmas, it doesn’t seem real to me because of how fast this year’s gone by. I just wish I could get everyone presents but I’m a little pressed with this house to have extra money. I won’t find out how much I can actually spend until about 2 weeks in December.

My mind is all over the place today, lets all hope the next post is a bit more interesting.

And Before I Forget...

I created two new websites, but they’re not on this site yet because I’m lazy.

Maybe one day things will change… naaaahh.

Atlanta South Inc

nVision Global (my job)

NOOOOOO!!!

After getting all dressed up for Thanksgiving dinner with the family and bringing home around 4 gigantic plates of food; Mike, Jeremy, and myself decided to go see The Mist.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY.

If you are going or thinking about going to see this movie… don’t.

That’s really all I need to say, please don’t waste your time. It’s absolutely ridiculous in almost every way possible and this is coming from a fan of the sci-fi, horror, thriller genres.

Basically what I’m saying is, if you see Stephen King in person, ever, punch him in the face and yell “THAT WAS FOR THE MIST!” then email me ASAP.

I'm Starving.

Okay so it’s 3:48pm as I’m typing this. I’m supposed to already be at my mom’s house getting ready to devour some delicious food but she called and told me dinner will be about 30 minutes late. I haven’t eaten one thing all day, I’ve been savoring the moment and it so happens that now, that moment is 30 more minutes away.

Good news is that I beat Philadelphia 10 – 0 today in NHL 08. So ummm.. TAKE THAT THANKSGIVING DINNER!!!

Starting Over.

I’m not too sure why I decided to start doing this again, but after reading John Mayer’s blog I was inspired. I’ll be honest, it probably wont last too long and maybe like one other person will read this, but oh well.

My life is rather complex right now, it has been flipped up and down for the past couple months. I’m also in the process of buying a new house. I close on Nov. 30th. I couldn’t be more excited to move in and start changing things. I’ll do my best to post pictures, because let’s face it, that’s all we want anyway.

I’m extremely distracted by the fact that the sky is falling outside. It hasn’t rained here in over 20+ days and now it pours on Thanksgiving. Mother Nature has perfect timing.

I guess this concludes my first post back, yay. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Take Care,
George
